Season Cost and Information
Central Virginia Volleyball is a 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on making every dollar that we receive from our programs beneficial to our athletes.
We recognize that travel sports are an investment of time and money, and we want to be transparent about the expected cost and how your investment is being spent.
WHAT YOU WILL PAY:
- $50 Non-Refundable Tryout Fee when you sign up online before August 26.
- $75 Non-Refundable Tryout Fee when you sign up online after August 26.
- $55 USA Volleyball Membership when you sign up online before attending the tryout.
- $150 Team Acceptance Deposit Fee
- Team Tournament Fee – Includes uniforms, facilities, equipment, tournament entries coaches and administrative costs.
The team costs by age group and level are detailed below. The only additional costs are the required USAV Membership, AAU memberships (for selected teams) and travel/hotel cost for parents and players.
Families will have the following payment options:
1. Pay the total team cost up front.
2. Pay the total team cost over 4 months charged; November, December, January, February.
3. Pay the total team cost over 7 months charged each month November - May. (This is for National level teams only)
If choosing the 4 or 7 month option, you will be charged the same amount over the course of the payment plan selected. This payment plan will be set up through your Sports Engine account and will be charged automatically.
Please read below for information on team cost for the 2023-24 season.

Practices
Teams practice 2-3 times during the week depending on the level. Practice times are between 4:30pm - 6:30pm, 6:00-8:00pm or 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Players should arrive 15 minutes early each night to practice and be dressed ready to go before practice starts. Players should also be promptly picked up after practice. Players are given practice shirts for the season and are EXPECTED to wear them to practice each night. What color to wear is up to the player, the team or the coach.
Practices as well as tryouts are closed to parents and friends. This is to minimize distractions and provide an environment that is optimal for learning and training.
Free positional clinics are available for all travel players when there gym space and coach availability.
Other Team Events
HOV believes that giving back to our community is important. One way we do this is by volunteering with other local businesses or outreaches.
- We will be participating in the Moose Lodge Haunted Trail with our teams by haunting the trails for the local community.
- We also participating in Team Competition and Community Service Nights where we meet to bond together as a program while making goodie bags for our local elderly homes or other outreaches.
- We will be cancelling 1-2 nights of practice throughout the season for each team and visiting one of the local outreaches to serve our community.
Tournaments
Parents are responsible for their child's transportation, meals, housing etc. If a parent can't attend a tournament, there should be another parent or guardian responsible. These responsibilities do not fall on the coach. The coach is only responsible for the volleyball demands of the players and team while at the venue of play during their wave.
Hotels
Parents are responsible for securing hotels for themselves and their child. HOV will only book coach rooms. However at most if not all tournaments, HOV will secure a block of rooms for parents to book at a discounted rate if they so choose. That information will be shared by the club and the coach at a later date. Parents are able to choose what hotel themselves and their child stay at. This does not apply to STAY AND PLAY tournaments.
Stay and Play tournaments are those where the tournament requires that the club/team secures as certain number of rooms. And can be only done so at hotel(s) that are assigned by the tournament. This information is then shared with the parents and they MUST book using the hotel link provided. If not, the team and/or club can be penalized monetarily or worse removed from the tournament. HOV will not refund for situations where the team is removed from the tournament due to lack of hotel rooms booked by parents for the tournament.
The Tournament Schedule notes which tournaments are Stay and Play tournaments / which ones are not.
A list of hotels and booking links will be shared with the parents in October and updated as more hotels are secure/assigned.
