VA Sand Training

VA Sand Spring/Summer Team is designed for athletes ages 12-18, looking explore the game of beach volleyball at a deeper level, or for indoor players looking to increase their level of play during their offseason. This program will help players have a blast while developing skills required to be successful in the sand or the hardcourt. There will be technical & tactical training and a focus on playing competitive games for fun. Coaches will be offering specific feedback during training and then will coach athletes during competitive play.

Virginia Sport and Spine is offering speed, strength and agility training at the Liberty University sand courts on Thursdays either before or after the VA Sand training. This will be an additional price to the VA Sand training and will be offered once a week on Thursdays for those who are interested. This will take place on the same courts.

I would recommend packing snacks and drinks if choosing to do both sessions! This is a great opportunity to training resiliency, stamina, and overall speed/strength and agility training.

Tryouts:

This program will require athletes to tryout, and then be placed into training groups based on skill level & age. Limited spots are available and all athletes not offered a spot will be refunded their registration.

Practices: VA Sand Spring/Summer Team athletes will practice 2 times per week. Depending on what training group they are assigned. Both our beginner and intermediate/advanced groups will practice Tuesday/Thursday evening. Athletes will be divided by skill level at practices to increase competition and maximize training time. There may be times where we will ask parents/players to switch groups if player should be moved to an alternate group. Parents/Players - PLEASE DO NOT ASKED TO BE MOVED. Coaches will make that decision.

Tournaments: With many tournaments in the region (within 3 hours), as well as VA Sand Volleyball hosted events - our Spring/Summer team athletes are encouraged to play, but have no mandatory tournaments. Coaches will be at VA Sand hosted events, as well as try to be at regional events. We believe that training and competing are both essential for maximizing growth and development as athletes, teammates and successful future leaders.

Partners: Spring/Summer Team athletes do not need a partner to sign up for the program. VA Sand encourages players to play with many different partners throughout training to increase development in a variety of areas.
